Early bird special

Early bird special

Getting things done early requires a lot of planning, but it usually pays off. In case of holiday planning, it pays off by being cheaper. We’ve all seen the last minute deals on the windows of travel agencies, but those have one essential problem: you’re stuck with going wherever it is they’re selling at the moment.

When you want to carefully plan your holidays to Thailand, Hawaii or even just the south of France, you will want to get it done as early as you possibly can. This will give you enough maneuverability to get it done safely, responsibly and in the cheapest way possible. Airliners have a reduced price for early bookings, and hotels do it also. This is good for the companies because it allows them to plan ahead and to show investors future profit opportunities. And they’ll also be able to have the ticket or the deposit money with them for a longer period of time, allowing them to make more money on interest. If you want to feel totally safe on your early booking, you can choose to take insurance on your tickets. The discount you get for early booking will more than make up for the added price of insurance.

The Island of Tenerife

The Island of Tenerife

The Canary Island are located off the coast of Morocco and the largest of these seven island is called Tenerife. This is the most populated as well with about 655 thousand people. This is a volcanic island with a central mountain called Mt. Teide which reaches to a height of 12 thousand feet.  A cable car can take you to the top where you can view the crystal waters and the myriad of colors from all the volcanic rocks. These islands are divided in tow Spanish provinces, the east and the west islands.  Cheap holidays to Tenerife can be arranged by many travel sites or agents. Many travelers will head to island when it is time for their holiday.  What is it about beaches and sun that draw so many people to sunny locations?

On the norther coast of Tenerife you will find steep cliffs. As you make your way to the southern coast, you will find a level coastal plain and the well known beaches of this island. You will find traditional towns here along with villages that are situated on the hillsides.  These factors alone will bring visitors back year after year as their perfect holiday destination.   For the younger tourists, there are a resorts that have been brought together to create one big playground. This is where you will find the bright lights and bars and clubs at the Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.  If you want more quiet surroundings, then you will want to say at Puerto de la Cruz which is a popular location for those who are not party goers.

The capitol city is Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is a great central location for tourists.  There is a port here where they say the first shots of the Spanish Civil War were fired.  Today all those memories have been covered by freighters and ferries. This island keep the perfect climate just about all year so it is the best place to spend your Canary Island holidays with friends and family. The southern part gets all the tourists because it is hotter then the norther part and with just occasional rain, you can have fun in the sun everyday. Your days can be spent basking in the sun and then taking a cool dip in the sea when you get to hot. You can play with water sports, surfing is done here also and volleyball on the beach is a popular sport too.

The Islands of the Mediterranean

The Islands of the Mediterranean

In the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, off the south coast of Spain, lie the Baleares islands. This archipelago is best known because of one of its islands, Ibiza, the self proclaimed, but wildly acclaimed, dance music capital of the world – and most definitely one of the world’s party capitals. But there are more islands than Ibiza, and they are equally pretty, if not better looking. From Majorca and Menorca, all the way to Cyprus, all of these islands are as diverse as they are beautiful. Majorca is where the capital of this region of Spain is – Palma, or Palma de Majorca as it’s commonly referred to. Minorca is situated right next to it and it takes its name from being smaller than Majorca – Major and Minor, it’s pretty clever.

You can choose a cheap holiday to Cyprus or Menorca, which is a much better option if you’ve got a family to worry about, or if you’re not into busy nightlife. Of course the party culture bleeds into the other islands, as it does into any major holiday destination. So it’s not like you and your friends won’t have anywhere to go after the sun goes down, it’s just that the major objective of most of the people staying there for the summer holidays is not to go out and party all night.

If you’re looking for in depth information on any of these islands or any other travel destination, the best choice is to use Internet. It is full of information at your disposal, and it’s also full of the best tools for turning your holiday experience into the best it can be. Because often we’re left with the impression that, with a little bit more planning, the holiday could have gone a lot further.

Websites like Dealchecker.co.uk help you make the best of your holiday. First of all, it helps you find the best deals available. The money you save on the flight and the hotel is just extra money you can spend on your holiday. Maybe on fancy dinners, maybe on some colorful drinks, or maybe even on souvenirs for the families back home. Actually, there is plenty of stuff on the website that you can re-spend the money you just saved on. Last time I used a website like this I did the maths and realized that with the money I saved on the flight and the hotel booking I could afford to rent a car for the duration of my stay.

Cruise tips

Cruise tips

When you’re considering where to go on your holiday, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Of course it will all depend on where you want to go, but some places will require that you plan accordingly. I remember some holiday destinations of mine that required I got up to date with certain vaccinations ahead of time, while others will have you get a special visa, some with special requirements for said visa, like proving that you have enough money to support yourself in the country during your holidays.

When going on a cruise, there are also some things that are “protocol” and that regular cruise goers inherently know, but that you may not be aware of. The best solution for this involves nothing more than a search engine and an internet connection. Any online cruise forum will have a host of members that are more than happy to provide advice for any cruise goer. It’s an excellent source, not only for hints and tips, but also to find out about cruise deals and some cruise protocol issues that you may not be aware of. And being a part of a cruise community will help you out when it comes the time to choose where to go, and reading other’s experiences will help you shape the perfect cruise experience.

Low Cost Luxury

Low Cost Luxury

It used to be such a derogatory term. Saying something was cheap used to mean a lot more than just how much you paid for it. It meant that it was poor quality, poor service and it probably wouldn’t last long without breaking or spoiling in one way or another. And I suppose it can still have that meaning, only not so much these days.

Finding something cheap is now also a synonym of being wise or smart. Like being street wise, only with shopping. If you find a listing for cheap clothes, shoes or even cheap luxury items or cheap luxury hotels, you’ll jump at the opportunity to hunt down some of those bargains.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, I’m just surprised at how the Internet has changed the way we look at price tags. Like it or not, in some places of the US, for example, people like to brag about how expensive things are. This, of course, is probably the most annoying thing anyone can do when it comes to talking about prices. It’s good to know that hunting for bargains is done by almost everyone now, and has become more of a pastime than a necessity.

Problem with your flight?

Problem with your flight?

Odds are you’ve experienced some problem with your flight’s timing. Whether it is delayed or canceled, it happens to all of us. If you’ve never had to handle this problem, here are a few pointers in case it happens to you.

Weather is the most common culprit behind flight delays. Even if the weather is fine at your departure gate, weather at the destination may not allow flights coming in. The problem with flight delays is that it will have a domino affect across the board. Airports not allowing planes to land, will also not allow them to depart. With only one airport held up, it can throw off schedules around the world.

If this happens to you, you will probably have to consider finding last minute accommodation. Although this seems impossible, airports do anticipate these problems, and have facilities such as nearby hotels with complimentary shuttle access for such occasions. Even if you have a long layover between flights, you can find cheap hotels at Heathrow Airport, or where ever you are.

Because you won’t be the only person with a postponed flight, you’ll want to book your accommodation fast. If the nearby hotels are not available, you might need to take a cab into the city center to find a hotel.

Travelling to Greece

Travelling to Greece

If you’re one of the millions of tourists that every year choose to spend their holidays in Greece, congratulations. You’ve just booked yourself a ticket to one of the world’s oldest and most amazing cultures, a perfect blend between past and present, East and West. With a blend of ancient archeological sites and modern buildings, as well as well preserved beaches, and a cuisine that’s a mixture of ancient Greek tradition with Western touches as well as a very rich Turkish influence, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find and taste in the country.

The Greek people are warm and welcoming, as they are used to and also very grateful for receiving tourists. Of course, you should always watch out for possible price increases in the “tourist menus”, as well as petty crime like pick pocketing or the old technique of trying to rip you off while giving you back your change for something. But for the most part, you’re very unlikely to find dishonest people.

In Greece, the English language is widely spoken, and recent years have seen an increase of people speaking Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Unfortunately for French and German tourists, not so many places cater to their language as to the four mentioned above, but all of that can be solved with a couple of words in English.

The Cypriot Ibiza

The Cypriot Ibiza

Ayia Napa, translated in English as Agia Napa, has in recent years become a Mecca for party goers and all hour party ravers from all around Europe.

Located in one of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterranean, Agia Napa is on the edge of the south eastern part of the island of Cyprus. With its sandy beaches, beautiful weather and numerous opportunities for a relaxed, fun time, Agia Napa attracts tourists of all nationalities and in all shapes and sizes.

To say that you can easily go on a cheap holiday to Ayia Napa and do a lot of fun activities without coming anywhere near to breaking the bank or needing a loan it’s not an exaggeration. Water related sports like water-skiing, windsurfing, canoeing, scuba diving and speed boating are very common in the resort, and the high competition between water sports companies makes this a very cheap, fun activity for everyone.

But it’s the night life that makes Ayia Napa resemble the Spanish party island of Ibiza. At night, the resort is filled with party goers that are out to have fun and to spend a good time, immersed in beautiful scenery. Both aspects, the fun day time and the party night time, make this a perfect holiday resort.
