For those traveling to the country, Scotland, in the north of the British Isles, has several seaports and four, international airports. Inside Scotland, people travel about by train to most destinations. Others travel by automobile and car hire. Scotland’s modern roadway system is well maintained, and those who decide to navigate the roads will enjoy the beauty of the Scottish countryside. When in the Highlands, drivers may notice that signs are written in two languages. While the majority of the locals speak English very well, Scotland has Scottish Gaelic, Scotts, and Scottish Standard English as the three official languages of the land. Those visiting Scotland can find affordable, short and long-term stay apartments in Edinburgh, Glasgow and other cities and towns all over the country and coastline.

People visiting Scotland for the first time will want to enjoy some Scotland’s culture and attractions. Golf lovers will want to see St. Andrews. Golf has developed at St. Andrews Links for six hundred years. Visitors often visit the castle at Edinburgh and the many other sites of interest there. Then, Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city has much to offer. Its top attraction is Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which receives over one million visitors every year. Scottish music is known all over the world and so are the bagpipes. Scottish bands still play live music in local pubs in the towns and cities.

Whether you’re headed for France, or coming from continental Europe, the best way to commute to and from the UK is by ferry. This means of transportation has long been popular among locals and tourists alike, with the short journey between Britain and France being a particular favorite. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway, or want to make the most out of your holiday, taking a ferry to france offers an exciting trip on the way to your destination.

Ferries are fast, comfortable, and offer a wide range of options that can cater to any interest or budget. Luxurious ferries are often called mini cruises, which provide you with all the comforts of home right on board, and a leisurely and exciting journey to and from your destination. Super fast ferries can get you between ports in record time, making it the most practical, and budget friendly option for commuting. Anything from standing room, to comfortable cabins are onboard virtually every ferry, not to mention space for your vehicle. Many tourists enjoy this trip as not only a way to visit France, but also to experience the journey on a ferry. Make your trip about more than just the destination, and instead about the journey there!

I recently booked up a holiday that was a bit different to my normal choice. It was advertised as the Volga dream river cruise. The Volga river is one of the most amazing rivers on the planet and the greatest in Europe with a total length of three and a half thousand kilometres. It has a number of sites to see on the trip which it is doubtful you have ever seen before.

My Volga dream river cruise took us past some amazing cities including Kostroma, Uglich, Yaroslavl and Kizhi. It was fascinating how the riverbank changes from one side to another. On the northern hemisphere it is noticeable how the right river bank is far more abrupt that that of the south. In contrast in the southern hemisphere the left is more abrupt. Over a distance of that far the different terrains were always going to vary and the river Volga’s definitely did.

As well as the cities and the terrain there is also a number of monuments completing a relaxing and site filled trip. My Volga dream river cruise was the best holiday of my life and has opened up a whole new world of trips down the rivers of Russia. Try them for yourself and see the wonders that Russian rivers have to offer.

At Virgin Holidays, we believe amazing service should come as standard. That’s why Virgin Holiday’s magic touches are made available to all Virgin Holidays customers – not just the VIPs! We realise that you want to make the most of being on holiday, so we came up with Check in, Chill out, so you can check in for your flight without leaving the beach…or bar. Airports are a drag. The holiday only really starts when you get to your destination. And if you’ve got kids, then airports are living nightmares. So, to perk up the airport experience, we came up with the VRoom. And when you’re on holiday, you want to make sure it’s as good as it can be. That’s where Virgin Holidays’ Concierge service comes in – a concierge actually tuned in to the buzz of your destination, not a guy in a suit on kick backs from rip-off restaurants. This belief is what sets Virgin Holidays apart from the competition. That’s why we actually encourage our customers to ‘Ask For the World’.

But how do you express that exclusive treatment in a single thought. What do Virgin Holidays offer that no-one else does? We think it can be described as…

“ROCKSTAR SERVICE”

It’s a level of care you’d normally associate with the glamour and excitement of the entertainment elite. Made available to every Virgin Holidays customer.

With Virgin Holidays, you can rest assured that you’ll get intuitive, imaginative typically brilliant twinkle-in-the-eye Virgin service, every single time you travel with us.

If you’re one of the millions of tourists that every year choose to spend their holidays in Greece, congratulations. You’ve just booked yourself a ticket to one of the world’s oldest and most amazing cultures, a perfect blend between past and present, East and West. With a blend of ancient archeological sites and modern buildings, as well as well preserved beaches, and a cuisine that’s a mixture of ancient Greek tradition with Western touches as well as a very rich Turkish influence, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find and taste in the country.

The Greek people are warm and welcoming, as they are used to and also very grateful for receiving tourists. Of course, you should always watch out for possible price increases in the “tourist menus”, as well as petty crime like pick pocketing or the old technique of trying to rip you off while giving you back your change for something. But for the most part, you’re very unlikely to find dishonest people.

In Greece, the English language is widely spoken, and recent years have seen an increase of people speaking Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Unfortunately for French and German tourists, not so many places cater to their language as to the four mentioned above, but all of that can be solved with a couple of words in English.

In this same location are many Amsterdam hotels, one being a bed & breakfast that is within walking distance of the maritime museum. Even if you don’t stay near by, the public transportation is great and an easy way to get around to see other museums.
In this museum you will find many navel instruments, sea-faring objects, artifacts and maps as well as exhibits that depict the discovery of the world by Dutch explorers. There are ancient ships for you to admire and replicas that explain the history of trade and exploration. Limited tours are allowed through the massive ships. The Dutch equivalent of the Titanic, the “Dutch East Indiaman Amsterdam” is a replica offers re-enactments of the the maintenance and what the daily life was like on board. On its first voyage, this ship sank off the coast of England. Great place for history buffs.
